Abstract

474,952. Vehicle wheels. POHL, G. March 12, 1937, No. 7351. Convention date, March 12, 1936. [Class 144 (i)] A tractor or other vehicle wheel is fitted with ground-engaging grips 2 carried by radially-adjustable stems 3 which, with the actuating bevel-gears, are enclosed in a casing comprising discs 16, 17. The latter are fitted with jaws 18 for clamping the stems 3 in adjusted positions by means of transverse bolts 19 connecting the discs. The stems 3 are engaged by nuts 21 on spindles 4 fitted with bevel pinions 22 which mesh with one another in each half of the wheel and are actuated from a central shaft 23. One spindle 4 in each set is fitted with a pinion 26, the shaft 23 being axially-adjustable to bring one of its driving-pinions 24, 25 into mesh with the corresponding pinion 26. For cushioning ground-impact of the grips, rubber buffers 27 may be fitted over the nuts 21.
