Abstract

361,746. Combustion-product plant. MOON, L. F., Houghton, Bassett, Southampton. Feb. 18, 1931, No. 5127. [Class 7 (i).] In a pneumatic power-transmission apparatus for locomotives '&c. in which an internal-combustion engine drives an air compressor the compressed air from which drives an air engine, the exhaust gases from the internal-combustion engine are passed through a coil or grid .5, disposed within the head of the compressed-air engine cylinder 6, and then through the cylinder jacket 7. The cylinder 6 has mechanically-operated inlet and exhaust valves 8, 9 and has also an automatic valve 10 which admits some of the exhaust gases prior to the opening of the inlet valve 8.
