Abstract
361,008. Children's carriages; chairs. SIMPSON, D., Simpson House, Sheppey Place, Minories, London. Aug. 25, 1930, No. 25285. [Class 108 (i).] A combined child's carriage and chair comprises a frame, a handle pivoted thereto and a pair of wheels mounted about pivotal axes at right-angles to the axis of the handle and connected to links which are collapsed inwardly when the handle is brought into position to serve as a support for the device when used as a chair. The body 1 is carried by a sub-frame 7 to which is pivoted the handle 24 adapted to be locked in operative position as a handle by means of bolts operated by the thumbpiece 29 and adapted to enter apertures in the handle extension 26. The wheels 12 are carried by members 13 pivoted to a slide which is engaged by a roller 21 to cause the wheels 12 to fold inwardly, as shown in Fig. 3, when the handle 24 is moved into its lower position to act as the chair legs or supports. Additional links may be connected to the front pivoted bars 9 carrying the front wheels 11 to fold them as shown. A front support 30 may be carried by the frame and clipped in its out-of-use position by a clip 34. A foot-rest 33 may be provided or if desired the rest may be of box form to fold into a position in line with the seat so that a child may be accommodated in the recumbent position.
