Abstract

360,783. Road vehicle opening tops. BISHOP, W. H., 48, Moor Street, and COLLEDGE, T. P., 8, Constitution Hill, both in Birmingham. March 13, 1931, No. 7714. Addition to 322,673, [Class 108 (i), Road vehicles, Body details &c. of]. [Class 108 (i).] In the vehicle roof described in the parent Specification the guides and the upstanding rim are replaced by an upstanding strip of channel section which serves both as the guide and as the weather sealing means the strip being arranged along each side of the roof and across the front. The strip 1 is of the section shown in Fig. 6 and is arranged as shown in Fig. 1, the rear of the roof opening being provided with an upstanding wooden bar 2. The panel frame 3 is provided at the front with spring- controlled pivoted arms 6 carrying sliders 7 provided with fibre &c. blocks 8 while the rear of the panel frame is provided with sliders 10 pivotally carried by brackets 11 and similarly provided with fibre &c. blocks. The pivoted arms permit the panel to be raised to clear the front transverse portion of the strip 1. A pivoted catch 18 carried by a handle 13 and engaging a latch 19 may be provided at the front of the panel or a screwed means 24, 25, Fig. 9, provided with a rubber &c. face may be adapted to engage the face of the strip 1. In this form a diamond-shaped projection 23 secured to the front slider 22 enters the channel strip 1 and by its shape allows of the panel being rocked sufficiently to permit of its clearing the strip 1.
