360,707. Stud-and-socket fastenings. KAYSER, E., 64, Frankfurterstrasse, Offenbach-on-Main, Germany. Dec. 3, 1930, No. 36466. [Class 44.] In a stud-and-socket fastening for handbags, purses, or the like, of the kind in which the socket part k comprises spring- pressed members m, n, the notched stud b is formed integral with a hollow actuating knob a enclosing a torsional spring h which, after..the knob a has been turned through 90‹ to free the notch o from the bolt n and thusrelease the fastening, returns the stud b and knob a to the original position. The complete stud assembly, the parts of which are held in position by the co-operation of a plate c, washer f, and pin g, is mounted on the flap e of a handbag or purse by means of the plate c and a backing plate d, the former being fitted with a pin i which limits the rotation of the knob a to 90‹. A modification is described in which the stud assembly is mounted on the underside of the flap e, the knob a in this case being formed with a projecting lug to which is secured an operating cord or chain.
