359,345. Tea-rolling machines. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F., Buckau, Magdeburg, Germany. Feb. 16, 1931, No. 4885. Convention date, April 16, 1930. [Class 129.] The press covers of tea-rolling machines are provided with means whereby an increase of pressure in the tea container causes a reduction in the lowering movement of the press cover. The press cover 33 is carried by a spindle 1 threaded in a bush 3 which carries a flange 21. The bush has a pulley 5 with ratchet teeth in its surface, this pulley being rotated by a chain 4 to raise or lower the press cover. A pawl 7 co-operates with the ratchet teeth 6. The pawl slides in a, guide 12 and is operated by a rod 13 driven from a crank disc 11, so that the tea-rolling mechanism also rotates the pulley 5 step by step to cause the press cover to maintain the pressure on the tea as it decreases in volume by rolling. When a certain pressure, indicated by the spring 14, is reached, a release rod 19 tilts a lever 29<1> pivoted at 29 to bring a wedge 32 into the path of the ratchet 7, causing this to miss teeth 6, so preventing increase of pressure. A cam 20 on the disc 18 engages the end of the rod 19 and can be set by gears 24, 25 to act at various pressures.
