Abstract

359,284. Vacuum cleaners. JOHN, A. S., 3, Gloucester Street, Belgrave Road, London. Dec. 10, 1930, No. 37287. [Class 8 (i).] In a hand-operated vacuum cleaner, the fan spindle 6 is driven by frictional contact with the tyres 14 of the floor wheels 13, which are mounted upon supporting arms 11 pivoted at 10. The arms 11 carry a rock bar 12 faced with rubber pads 16, 17 which contact with stops 15, 18 to limit the oscillation of the wheels 13 and at the same time limit the pressure between tyre 14 and the spindle 6. A rotary brush 4 is mounted in the suction nozzle and is pressed by springs 23 into frictional engagement with floor wheels 19.
