Abstract

477,438. Carpet - sweepers. ENTWISLE & KENYON, Ltd., KENYON, R. W., and REDFEARN, J. P. April 23, 1937, No. 23253. Divided out of 476,932. [Class 138 (i)] Each wheel of a carpet - sweeper is carried on a separate stub axle capable of limited movement and mounted on a forked bracket which is resiliently mounted on the sweeper casing so that the spring acts not only to support the casing resiliently but also to press the wheel against the driving pulley. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the axle B is carried by a forked bracket N which is pivoted at n, to a second bracket N<1> pivotally mounted on a pin n<1> secured to the casing. A spring N<2> applies pressure to keep the wheel A<1> in contact with the brush pulley. In a modification shown in Fig. 3, the arms N<3> are formed separately and riveted to a plate N<4> which is pivoted on a pin n carried between a trough-shaped bracket N pivotally mounted on the casing. A coiled spring N<5> on the pin n bears at one end against the bracket N and at the other end against the plate N<4>. In a further construction shown in Fig. 5, the forked member P is carried by a bowed spring P<1> pivotally connected to the casing at p. In a further construction shown in Fig. 10, the axle B is carried by a double-forked bracket R each member of which is connected by a bowed spring R<1> to a pivoted bracket R<2>.
