Abstract

491,258. Carpet-sweepers. ENTWISLE & KENYON, Ltd., and KENYON, J. M. March 18, 1937, No. 7927. [Class 138 (i)] In a carpet-sweeper of the kind in which each traction wheel A has a short, separate, stub axle which does not project through the end of the sweeper casing, the axle B, which is integral with the hub a of the wheel, rotates in a floating cylindrical bearing D. The bearing is supported in the eye e of a spring E which is secured at its other end e<1> to the end of the easing C or to a plate F secured thereto. In a modification, the spring E is bowed and formed at its centre with a loop to support the bearing. In another modification, Fig. 6, the bearing D is carried by a plate G which is supported by the spring E. If the sweeper has a metal wheel cover, the spring E may be secured to the cover instead of to the end of the casing C.
