Abstract

326,989. Entwisle & Kenyon, Ltd., Kenyon, R. W., and Kenyon, W. H. March 12, 1929. Addition to 267,314. Carpet-sweepers.-In a modification of the invention described in the parent Specification the cover for the brush aperture, formed at each end of the casing consists of a vertical plate C, Figs. 1 and 4, which may be secured by being fitted in grooves in the sides of the aperture. The plate may be ribbed, as shown, to facilitate removal, or may be formed with a horizontal flange at the bottom. In a modification the plate has flanged edges at each side for engagement over the sides of the aperture. In a further modification shown in Figs. 14 and 15, the cover C is pivoted at a to the outside of the casing and is held in position across the brush aperture by means of a spring-pressed ball E in the casing which is adapted to engage in a depression d<1> formed in an extension of the cover. The cover may also be mounted inside the casing, or may be duplicated, both plates being on a common pivot, one plate on the inside and the other on the outside of the end of the casing.
