Abstract

474,772. Carpet sweepers. ENTWISLE & KENYON, Ltd., and REDFEARN, J. P. May 7, 1936, No. 12849. [Class 138 (i)] A carpet-sweeper is provided with two removable dust receptacles D adapted to be lifted vertically through openings formed in the top of the sweeper casing, the top D<1> of each receptacle forming a closure for the corresponding opening when the receptacle is in its normal position in the sweeper. The front of the receptacle has an opening d<2> above a wall d<1> which is curved so as to be further away from the brush B at the top than at the bottom. Behind the wall d<1> is a groove d<8> to permit the receptacle to be positioned astride the axle C<1> of the floor wheel. One end d<3> of the receptacle is opened and the other end which is closed, carries a spring adapted to engage a projection on the end wall of the casing A to prevent escape of dust through the end d<3>. Guides a<2> are formed at each end of the casing. In a modification in which the floor wheels are mounted in stub axles, the dust receptacles are not provided with grooves d<8>.
