Abstract

476,932. Carpet - sweepers. ENTWISLE & KENYON, Ltd., KENYON, R. W., and REDFEARN, J. P. April 23, 1937, No. 12851/36, [Class 138 (i)] In a carpet-sweeper having each wheel carried on a stub axle which is pressed towards the brush pulley by a spring held in position by the bail cam bracket, the inner end of each stub axle or a plate, disc or nut thereon is located in a recess in the end of the sweeper casing whereby the movement of the axle is limited. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, each axle B is carried by a lever C which is mounted on a pivot c and is slotted at c<4>. The axle is engaged by a spring D secured to the bail cam bracket A<4>. The end b of the axle B is located in a recess a in the sweeper casing. In a modification each axle is connected by a link to a second link pivoted on the sweeper casing. In the construction shown in Fig. 6, the axle B is carried by a loop.f in a spring F fixed to the casing. A second spring D secured to the bail cam bracket maintains the wheel A<1> in contact with the brush pulley A<2>. The inner end of the axle B has a disc located for limited movement in a recess in the casing. In a further construction shown in Figs. 10 and 11, the axle B is carried by two springs H<1>, H<2>, one on each side of the wheel A<1>. In a further construction shown in Fig. 13, the axle B is carried in slots k formed in the two arms of a U-shaped bracket K, the ends of which are mounted on a pivot k<1>.
