[Class 35.] Cooling ; cores.-Cooling recesses are arranged all round the surface of a rotor in the material outside the windings and the projections formed between the recesses are rounded off at their tops. These recesses may be parallel to the axis or may be arranged helically. In the form shown, air entering at the fan 4 enters the wave-shaped recesses 5, and the angle between these recesses and the rotor axis may increase along the air gap as the axial component of the velocity of the air diminishes.
