Abstract
358,450. Apparatus for low temperature carbonization. HONNAY, C., Langerbrugge, Belgium. April 3, 1930, No. 10604. Convention date, Jan. 7. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 55 (i).] In apparatus for coking at low temperature coal or the like the material is fed from a hopper 11 and under a plate 14 in a thin layer (5 cms.) on to an endless band 9, from which it passes in turn over heated surfaces 3<1>, 2<1> in chambers 3, 2, being conveyed along these by endless bands 15, 21 carrying scrapers 18, and discharged from a chamber 23. The chambers 2, 3 are heated by burners 4 the hot gases from which circulate under the plate 2<1>, through a flue 7 and outlet pipe 8. The distillates are withdrawn through outlets 25. The residue, which is in the state of pasty semicoke, may be briquetted without the addition of binding material.
