Abstract
261,290. Kohlenveredlung Ges., and Geissen, C. May 27, 1926. Retorts.-In a retort through which the charge passes in a thin layer heated at one side a wal having a large number of gas outlets is disposec adjacent the side of the layer to which the heat is not applied so that the distillates are with drawn without being subjected to the heat ap plied to the retort. In Fig. 1 the charge passes over the heated corrugated surface 1 and the distillates pass through perforations in the wall 2 of the retort and the insulation 3 into a space 6 from which they are discharged through outlets 7. The gas-collecting chamber may be heated or may be cooled to act as a condenser. In Fig. 2 the material is passed by a conveyer belt 10 over heating chambers 9, passages 12 in the heat-insulating wall 13 leading to a collecting-chamber 14 with a gas outlet 15.
