Abstract

358,373. Cables. DEUTSCHE KABELWERKE AKT.-GES., 80, Boxhagener Strasse, Berlin. Dec. 18, 1930, No. 38138. Convention date, Jan. 22. [Class 36.] In order to avoid the formation of hollow spaces in the dielectric of a high tension cable, the cable is provided with a protective sheath E, preferably of lead which surrounds a thin lead C sheath in contact with the outer face of the dielectric B, an elastic layer D being interposed between the two sheaths. The elastic layer D consists of rubber with distributed air or gas cavities. Fig. 4 shows different forms of the elastic layer D, small cells d, hollow spaces d<1> or grooves d<2>, d<3> being provided. In the construction of Fig. 2, an insulating layer B<1> is applied to a copper core and covered by a lead sheath C<1> an elastic layer D<1> and thin lead sheath C2. On the sheath C<2> is placed an insulating layer B<2>, a thin sheath C, an elastic layer D and outer lead casing E. In the construction of Fig. 3, an elastic layer D<0> is applied directly to the conductor A and is surrounded by a thin lead sheath C<0>, the construction of the outer part of the cable being similar to the construction of Fig. 1. The conductor may be electrically connected with the sheath C<0>, for instance by metallizing a wound-on elastic band.
