[Class 36.] In order to avoid the formation of gas pockets at the conductor and under the sheath of a rubber insulated high tension cable for heavy currents, a semi-conducting layer 3 of rubber mixed with graphite or lamp-black is interposed between the conductor 2 and the rubber insulation 4, and between the insulation 4 and the cable sheath 6. Specification 244,071, [Class 36, Electricity, Conducting &c.], is referred to.
