Abstract

356,478. Edge runners and pans and like mills. BEARDSLEY, E. O. and PIPER, W. F., 2541, North Keeler Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A. Sept. 8, 1930, No. 26810. [Class 59.] Moulding sand is prepared or reconditioned by resilient faces 35 of crushing wheels 18. The sand is carried by a conveyer 5 from a hopper 6 under an adjustable gate 45, devices 46, 47, for supplying bonding material with water, and wheels 18 rotated in a circular path. The wheels have detachable tyres 35 of hard rubber and are freely mounted on an axle 19 which can rock about a stub shaft 22 which can move about a pivot 24 carried by a frame 20 which, in turn, is rotated through gearing 34, 29 by a motor 28. The frame 20 carries adjustable supports 20a, to prevent the rollers 18 from resting on the conveyer, and a rake 37. The upper reach of the conveyer is supported by rails 17 and it is driven through gearing 44, 43, 40, 39.
