Abstract
893,097. Roller-and-breast mills; endless band mixers. PEKAY MACHINE & ENGINEERING CO. Inc. May 13, 1958 [May 16, 1957], No. 15362/58. Classes 59 and 86. [Also in Groups XIII and XXII] Pulverulent or granular material such as foundry sand is cooled and moistened by liquid spray means which is controlled by means responsive to a predetermined height of the material on the conveyer which carries it through the conditioning apparatus. Hot sand from e.g. moulding flasks is deposited on a conveyer 10, Fig. 1, and levelled by an adjustable gate. On reaching the conditioning station 11, a pivoted rocker arm 70 is moved upwardly by engagement with the top surface of the sand and closes a switch 81, causing water to issue from the spray 95. The sand thereafter travels to a mulling roll 25. In a modification, Fig. 9, the sand, after spraying is agitated by rotatable cutters 41 and then mulled by a muller 45 mounted on a rocker bar as described in Canadian Specification 521,889.
