[Class 107] A machine for distributing concrete, chalk, and like materials on road and like surfaces, comprises a main frame or carriage, a truck frame supported thereon and movable transversely thereto and a hopper carried by the truck frame and having an open bottom mouth through which the material is fed by gravity when the hopper is moved, the mouth of the hopper being adjustable with respect to the carriage and serving to level the distributed material. The machine shown comprises a main frame 1 supported by flanged wheels 2 and fitted with transverse beams 4 which provide tracks for the hopper 5. The latter is carried by a frame 9 supported by wheels 10 the axles of which are journalled in bearings fitted to pairs of end beams 11 of the frame 9. The inner beam of each pair has guides 12 which receive spaced lugs 13 on the end walls 6 of the hopper. Vertical adjustments of the hopper are effected by screws 15 fitted with hand wheels (not shown). The machine is driven by a motor 17 which also effects the transverse movements of the hopper along the beams 4. The drive to the hopper is through chain and spur wheels to a reversing clutch 18 coupled to a shaft 19 on which are cable drums 20. Wire ropes 21 are wound around the drums and are anchored to one side of the hopper, their other ends passing over pulleys 22 to be anchored to the other side of the hopper. The edges of the mouth of the hopper serve to level the distributed material. In a modification, the levelling is effected by an adjustable funnel piece which is fitted to the hopper. According to a further modification, the adjustment of the hopper with respect to the main frame is effected by means which raise or lower the truck frame or the tracks 4 on which it runs.
