Abstract
981,397. Road making machines. ABGWERKE G.m.b.H. June 26, 1961 [July 7, 1960], No. 23039/61. Heading E1G. Road surfacing material spreading equipment comprises a pair of gantries located on opposite sides of the road to be surfaced and movable in the direction of the road, the gantries supporting track rails along which a suspended hopper assembly is movable, the rails projecting beyond the gantries to enable the hopper assembly to be charged from a supply source at the side of the road. As shown, inverted U frames 2 are driven along rails 1 on bogies 3 by a motor 8 clamped to the frame 2 at 10 are girders 9 one of which preferably extends well beyond the rails 1. A spreader trough 19 with an hydraulically operated bottom closure (not shown) is mounted on a frame 12 which is movable by rack and pinion means 16 and rollers 13 along the girders 9. The rack (not shown) is supported on girders (not shown) connecting the girders 9. The trough 19 is vertically adjustable by means of hydraulic cylinders 24 mounted on the frame 12 and stops 26 for setting the trough at the desired height are adjustable by means of spindles 27 mounted at each end of the trough and operated by hand wheels 29. A counterweight 30 compensates for the shift of weight when the frame 12 is moved to the left of Fig. 1 for charging of the trough. The motor 8, hydraulic cylinders and the rack and pinion are powered by a motor 21.
