Abstract

356,419. Aircraft wings. BOULTON & PAUL, Ltd., Riverside Works, and NORTH, J. D., Hill House, Eaton Hill, both in Norwich. Aug. 6, 1930, Nos. 23489/30 and 12287/31. [Class 4.] In wings having rib posts engaging the spar, the rib posts are shaped to engage the booms of the spar and are clamped to the spar by a tension member passing through the post and spar. A rib post E secured to the booms of the rib and having recesses to position the spar vertically is clamped to the spar by a spun tube or bolt D<1> passing through the post, the spar and a corresponding member C<1>. The member C<1> engages the upper and lower booms of the rib to act as a strut without any connection thereto or either post may be hinged to a boom at one end. The member D<1> may pass through a clearance hole in the spar so as not to transmit vertical leads thereto. The fixed rib posts are preferably arranged to be both on the same side of the two spars of a wing to facilitate assembly.
