Abstract
212,006. Armstrong Siddeley Motors, Ltd., and Wylie, H. N. Dec. 19, 1922. Planes, construction of.-For connecting a rib to a spar in the framework of an aeroplane wing devices mounted on the rib are arranged to engage the spar solely by clamping action. Abutments 9, secured to or integral with struts 5 connecting the booms 1, 2 of the rib, engage the spar 3 by a clamping action at the junctions of the flange and web portions of the spar. The abutments 9 are preferably strips of spring steel folded as shown and' formed with tongues 13 engaging the sides of the struts, a single rivet serving to secure each abutment to the strut. Preferably one of the struts is adapted to be swung out about one end as shown to facilitate the assembling of the parts. Specification 144,828 is referred to.
