Abstract
360,951. Propelling aeroplanes. BAYERISCHE FLUGZEUGWERKE AKT.- GES. and MESSERSCHMITT, W., 118A, Haunstetterstrasse, both in Augsburg, Germany. Aug. 11, 1930, No. 23958. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 12, 1930.] [Class 4.] In aeroplanes in which one or more engines are secured to the wing at least two of the enginebearing points are secured to or mounted on the ribs of the wing, the remaining bearing points, if any, being mounted on the cross spar or spars. Figs. 1 and 2 show an engine nacelle 7 mounted in the trailing edge of the wing by means of lugs 11 .. 14 on bearing plates 15, 16, 19, 20 on the ribs 8, 9 and also on the rear main spar. Fig. 5 shows a wing in which the ribs 31 .. 34 converge to the edges of the wing and in which the points of support are shown at 36 in the leading edge and 35 in the trailing edge of the wing, the main spar 27 being shown. Fig. 7 shows a wing in which the supports are .disposed at 43, 44 in the leading edge on parallel ribs 45, 46 and on the main spar 27 at 42 and if necessary at 47, 48. In Fig. 9 the ribs 56, 57 at the leading edge are triangulated with enginesupporting points at 58, 59 and in addition parallel ribs 60, 61, 62 are provided with bearing points 63, 64.
