Abstract

270,463. Hildick, H. March 24, 1926. Extensible posts. - In a telescopic mast or post, more especially for wireless aerials. the inner tube 7, Fig. 1. is fitted at the bottom with a catch which automatically locks the tube when the latter is raised by the cable 16, and is adapted to be released by a cable, preferably by the same cable 16. In one construction the catch comprises an angle lever 11 pivoted to a plug member 8 screwed on the bottom of the inner tube 7. In another construction a spring bolt 19, Fig. 5, is fitted within the plug member. In both cases the catch engages the lower edge of a slot 9<a> at the top of the outer tube 9. The catch is released by a shaped projection 17 on a swinging lever 14<a> pivoted to a collar 12 on the outer tube. The swing lever also carries the pulley 15 for the cable 16, and two pins 18 between which the cable passes so that the projection 17 may be moved to release the catch, or held away from the catch according to the angle at which the cable is operated.
