Abstract

1478840 Pivotal post R CASE 21 Aug 1974 [18 Sept 1973 18 Dec 1973] 43680/73 and 58691/73 Heading E1B A hollow post 4 is pivotal between a lowered position in which it is located within a housing 1 and a raised position in which its lower end can drop into either a socket 7 or a hole in the housing's floor, the post being lockable in the latter position. The pivot pin 5 extends through elongate slots 6 in the post to allow said dropping. A tie 10 extends from the pivot pin up the inside of the post and can be locked in position relative to the post when the post is in the raised position. The locking can be done by a pin 12 passing through aligned holes in the tie and post; by a coin-operated mechanism or by a key-operated latch. A drain hole 8 is provided. A flange 16 on the post covers the housing when the post is lowered.
