Abstract
355,824. Sifting-apparatus. JAMES, U. S., 35, Runyon Street, Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A. May 30, 1930, No. 16785. [Class 117.] Apparatus for vibrating screens consists of a shaft 33, Fig. 4, carrying an eccentric 31 acting on the inner ends of two oppositely disposed levers 28 pivoted at 30 near their outer ends from which the screens are suspended. In the construction described, two screens 2, Fig. 7, are suspended in superposed relation and are actuated in opposite phase by two eccentrics on the same shaft. The straps 22, 23 by which the screens are suspended rest on pins 26, 27 which are supported by the outer ends of the levers being held in engagement therewith by a bridge-piece 34 and spring-controlled rod 40, Fig. 6. The actuating mechanism is contained in a casing 13 supported on a frame 3 adjustably mounted on uprights 1 by the pivot 4 and screws 5. In order to support the screens in their inclined positions, they are connected by resilient strips 18 to hangers 16 hinged to the casing 13. The eccentrics are of the compound type with rotary adjustment for varying the eccentricity. In order to adjust them simultaneously and maintain their phase relation, they are connected by pins 58, Fig. 5, with a radially slotted disc 54 turning on a concentric part of the shaft 33. The eccentrics are secured in their adjusted positions by wedges 50.
