Abstract

336,085. Williamson, J. S. Oct. 1, 1929. Sieves with compound motion. - The screen frame 3, Fig. 1, is actuated by a, rotary unbalanced shalt carried thereby and is slung from a stationary support 4 by pairs of diverging fiexible and resilient members 23 which are in the form of steel wire ropes anchored at one end to the frame 3 by adjustable tensioning bolts and fastened at the other end to casings 23<c>, Fig. 12, resiliently mounted on supporting spindles 24 by spiral springs 23<b>, rubber cushions &c. Different points of support 24a are provided for the spindles 24 in order to vary the movement of the screen. In the construction described, the rotary unbalanced shaft is a tubular member 6, Fig. 3, mounted on bearings on a stationary spindle 8 and provided with recessed flanges 6<c> in which are positioned weights 7, adjustable angularly with respect to each other. One of the weights is secured to the flange and the other is locked to a closing plate 16 which is secured in its adjusted position by headed bolts 17<a>. The frame 3 consists of channel members 3<a> braced by cross members 3<c>, and the screening surface 1 is secured at its edges between angle members 2b and the web of a T-shaped member 2. Bolts 19 secure the members 2 to the frame and tension the screen to which camber may be imparted by the adjustable screw 27.
