Abstract
Potassium salts are obtained, together with hydrochloric acid, by treating potassium chloride or mixtures thereof, with sodium chloride such as crude sylvinite with a mineral acid or acid salt. Sulphuric, phosphoric, or nitric acids may be used, or a mixture of sulphuric and phosphoric acids. The hydrochloric acid obtained is used to produce dicalcium phosphate from crude phosphates. The products are useful as fertilizers.ALSO:Mixed fertilizers are obtained by treating mixtures of potassium and sodium chlorides such as crude sylvinite with a mineral acid or acid salt. Sulphuric, phosphoric or nitric acids may be used, or a mixture of sulphuric and phosphoric acids.
