Abstract

A fertilizer is prepared by neutralizing the double salt K2,H3,SO4,PO4 which may be in the form of a melt or of granules with substances which are themselves plant nutrients or are converted to such in the course of the reaction, e.g. ammonia, raw phosphate, or potassium, ammonium, magnesium or calcium carbonate. The double salt may be obtained by the action of concentrated phosphoric acid on neutral potassium sulphate at the temperature of the boiling point. According to an example, ammonium nitrate either in the solid form or in the form of a water-containing melt is added to a melt of the double salt, the mixture granulated, and the solid treated with ammonia.ALSO:A fertilizer is prepared by neutralizing the double salt K2SO4 , H3PO4 which may be in the form of a melt or of granules with substances which are themselves plant nutrients or are converted to such in the course of the reaction, e.g. ammonia, raw phosphate, or potassium, ammonium, p magnesium, or calcium carbonate. Other nutrients, e.g. high-percentage potassium salts, ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, ammonium sulphate may be added before or after the neutralization. The double salt K2SO4 , H3PO4 may be obtained by the action of concentrated phosphoric acid on neutral potassium sulphate at the temperature of the boiling point. According to an example, ammonium nitrate either in the solid form or in the form of a water-containing melt is added to a melt of the double salt, the mixture granulated, and the solid treated with ammonia.
