Abstract

Fertilizers are obtained by treating ground rock phosphate with a magma of ammonium sulphate and free sulphuric acid containing 0,1 to 45 per cent of free acid with the application of heat under controlled temperatures between 60 and 75 DEG C., and drying the product until it contains 4 per cent or less of moisture. For producing a composition containing mainly dicalcium phosphate, a magma containing up to 20 per cent, say 14 per cent, of free acid may be employed. For producing a composition containing mainly mono-calcium phosphate, a magma containing at least 20 per cent, say 43 per cent, of free acid may be used. Specification 413,636 is referred to.ALSO:Fertilizers are obtained by treating ground rock phosphate with a magma of ammonium sulphate and free sulphuric acid containing 0,1 to 45 per cent of the free acid with the application of heat under controlled temperatures between 60 and 75 DEG C., and drying the product until it contains 4 per cent or less of moisture. Finely divided sulphur may be incorporated in the phosphate rock. For producing a composition containing mainly decalcium phosphate, a magma containing up to 20 per cent, say 15 per cent, free acid may be employed. For producing a composition containing mainly monocalcium phosphate, a magma containing at least 20 per cent, say 43 per cent, free acid may be employed. The magma may be prepared by treating concentrated gas liquor with sulphuric acid and evaporating the solution in vacuo. Specification 413,636 is referred to.
