Abstract
Strewable, non-caking fertilizers containing or consisting of calcium nitrate are obtained by evaporating calcium nitrate solutions to a sandy-pasty consistency containing 90-95 per cent calcium nitrate, and thereupon converting the mass into a granular form, without further substantial concentration, by mechanical disaggregation at a temperature of from 50-100 DEG C. The evaporation process, preferably at its end phase, for example, after concentration to 75 per cent, may be carried out in vacuo in a kneading machine. Other fertilizers, such as potassium chloride, nitrate and phosphate or mixtures thereof, may be added to the calcium nitrate, such salts as react with calcium nitrate being added after concentration to 90-95 per cent and before or during the mechanical disaggregation. Examples relate to the treatment of calcium nitrate solutions obtained by dissolving acetylene mud or limestone in nitric acid.ALSO:Strewable non-caking fertilizers containing calcium nitrate are obtained by evaporating calcium nitrate solutions to a sandy-pasty consistency containing 90-95 per cent calcium nitrate, and thereupon converting the mass into a granular form, without further substantial concentration, by mechanical disaggregation at a temperature of from 50-100 DEG C.
