Abstract
354,625. Rotary engines. KOLKO, A., 3, Rue Taillade, Colombes, Seine, France. Oct. 22, 1930, No. 31766. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1929. [Class 110 (ii).] Geared vane type.-Two rotating rings 4, 5, which have pistons 6, 7, moving in an annular chamber 3, are given a relative movement to one another by rollers g which co-operate with a fixed polygonal cam 17 and radial projections 9, 10, on the rings 4, 5. The rollers are loosely mounted on a spindle 19, in apertures on the peripheral surface of a drum 15 which is integral with a shaft 16. The rollers are split up into units or pairs 20, 23, 24, to allow for differential rolling movement between the rollers and ramps 11 on the piston rings, the surfaces of the drum which project between the rollers, and the contour of the cam 17. In a modified arrange. ment the rollers are replaced by cylindrical sectors or part rollers which are mounted on the spindle 19 together with a roller adapted to roll on the cam 17. The sectors may thus have movement relative to one another. The cam contour has no sharp corners or straight lines as indicated in Fig. 1, but is built up of smooth curves. Three sets of inlets 25, exhaust ports 26, and ignition devices 27, are provided around the periphery of the engine casing. The shaft 16 may be fixed and the outer casing 1, 2, revolve. Several engines may be constructed on the same shaft, to act as stages of expansion. Specification 299,776, [Class 110 (ii), Rotary engines &c.], is referred to.
