Abstract
354,412. Feedwater heating and supply systems for steam boilers. STIRLING BOILER CO., Ltd., 32, Farringdon Street, and HORSMAN, H. S., 88, Prince of Wales Mansions, Battersea Park, both in London. Jan. 30, 1931, No. 14889/30. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (ii).] Steam boilers adapted for use of impure water consist of one portion 1 comprising inclined tube banks connecting a steam and water drum 3 and a mud drum 4 subjected to radiant heat and fed with relatively pure water, and a main portion 2 subjected to lower temperatures, also comprising an upper steam and water drum or drums 5, 6 and a mud drum 7 connected bv tube banks and fed with contaminated water. The upper drums of the two portions are connected by steam and water cross tubes 11, 12 or steam from the first or screen portion may be delivered to a prime mover or separate process. In the form shown pure feed passes from a condensate pump 8 to the screen portion through a heat exchanger 9 supplied with continuous blowdown from the mud drum 7 of the main portion which receives feed by way of the box 10.
