354,240. Knitting. SCOTT & WILLIAMS, Inc., 366, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Page, A. E. ; Brook. lyn, New York, U.S.A.) May 5, 1930, No. 16504/31. Convention date, May 8, 1929. Divided on 354,237. [Class 74 (ii).] A device for transferring ribbed &c. fabric to the needles of a circular knitting- machine comprising a non-rotatable mounting plate 169, a rotatable transfer ring 171 carrying the quills q, and a rotatable stripper ring 175 carrying individual stripper members 176. The plate 169 is mounted upon an arm 16, for swinging into operative and inoperative positions, by means of screws 181 so that it can be adjusted with respect to the axis of the needle cylinder, and is provided with a sleeve 170 for supporting the stripper ring 175. The transfer ring 171 is mounted upon the plate 169 so as to have limited axial movement by means of stops 172 and screws 172b, a shoulder 171a being provided on the ring to engage with the stops. The loops are stripped off the quills manually, the stripper ring 175 being moved bodily by arms 178 passing through slots 180 in the sleeve 170 when a handle 25 is pressed inwardly. The transfer ring 171 is held against rotation when in inverted position by keys 182 upon the mounting plate 169 ; the keys 182 are of such depth that the transfer ring is free to rotate when placed over the needles n of the knitting-machine.
