[Class 74 (ii).] Relates to mechanism such as is described in Specification 316,333, [Class 74 (ii), Knitting &c.], for transferring knitted webs to the needles of a circular knitting-machine. According to the invention a pin 36 is provided for locking the needle cylinder against rotation, and means are provided for locking the transfer mechanism in inoperative position until the locking pin 36 is in locking position. The pin 36 is carried upon a lever 42 controlled from the main pattern drum, and the lever 42 carries a second pin 40 which locks the transfer mechanism carrying arm 16 in inoperative position. A cam 39 is provided on the end of the arm 16 for retaining the lever 42 in the depressed position for locking the needle cylinder while the transfer mechanism is in operative position and while it is being swung to inoperative position; upon the arm 16 reaching inoperative rest position, the pin 40 is moved under spring influence into a gap 166a where it is held by a spring-pressed plunger 163 to lock the arm 16 until the lever 42 has again been depressed by a lug on the main pattern drum. Additional means, comprising a pivotally mounted catch 161, are provided for locking the arm 16 in inoperative rest position; the catch is held in engagement with a pin 167 on the arm 16 by the upper end of the locking pin 36 until the pin 36 is lowered to lock the needle cylinder.
