Abstract
354,168. Spectacles. WINGATE, G. H., 15, Wigmore Street, London. Feb. 1, 1930, No. 3477. Convention date, March 26, 1929. [Class 97 (i).] Foldable spectacles are constructed with eyeframes 1, 2 pivoted to the bridge 5, which is preferably slightly springy, the forks 3, 4 of the bridge being slightly offset so that the frames 1, 2 may fold completely one over the other. Abutments 6 on the frames bear upon the bridge to limit the opening movement and extended portions 9 rest upon the nose of the wearer. The sides 7 are each formed of two members 71, 711 hinged together so that the spectacles may be folded into the position shown in Fig. 3. The hinge 12 is in a different plane to that of the hinge 11 to facilitate folding. To avoid wear at the pivots 3, 4 the pins pass through metal bushings in the eyeframes 1, 2.
