Abstract

353,986. Reciprocating pumps. KUNDIG, H., 10, Alices des Sciences, Bondy Coquetier, France. May 27, 1930, No. 16322. [Class 102 (i).] The compression space of an internal-combustion engine is variable by adjusting eccentrics 7, which form the fulcra for angle levers 8 to which the connecting-rods 4, 5 are attached. The eccentrics may be worked together by a relay piston 20 which moves the eccentrics in one direction, the thrust of the driving gear returning the eccentrics on the position shown; stops 13 limit the movements. The piston is raised by oil supplied by the pump 18 ; if it is desired to move the eccentrics, a rod 17 is pulled upwards a determined distance and a cam 15 in the crank shaft reciprocates the pump plunger. The oil is supplied under pressure to a suction valve at 19 and is delivered through the valve 24. When it is desired to release the oil from under the piston the rod 17 is pulled still further and a stop 23 opens both the valve 24 and a valve 25 in the pump plunger; the valve 25 also serves as a safety-valve for the pump.
