Abstract
294,967. Pescara, R. P. April 2, 1927. Actuating pumps by fluid pressure motors ; regulating compression.-An air compressor comprising an internal combustion motor cylinder in which pistons combined with compressor pistons move oppositely, the return strokes being effected by compressed air remaining in the compressor cylinders, has the return stroke assisted by an inert gas such as the motor exhaust gas compressed into a chamber or chambers 32, 33 by the piston movements. Channels 38, 39 leading from a tank containing the inert gas under pressure are caused to communicate momentarily with the chambers by slots 42, 43. The firing point, or the fuel mixture, or both, may be regulated e.g. the lever 50 of the interrupter may be connected by a rod 49 with a cam 47 controlling the needle valve 45 of the carburetter.
