Abstract
353,353. R÷ntgen-ray apparatus. MœLLER AKT.-GES., C. H. F., 93, Hammerbrookstrasse, Hamburg, Germany. Nov. 13, 1930, No. 34182. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1929. [Class 98 (i).] X-ray tubes in which an auxiliary electrode is provided to maintain the load of the focal spot per unit of surface constant are fitted with means enabling them to be connected to the usual form of supply in which one side of the discharge circuit is combined with one side of the cathode heating circuit. The device comprises a transformer 9 having the primary 16 connected across the cathode heating supply terminals 20, 21, and the secondary 10 connected to the cathode 11, and a resistance 15 connected between one terminal of the primary and one terminal of the secondary, the primary side of the resistance being also connected to the auxiliary electrode 13. The apparatus may be incorporated in the construction of the tube, being employed to counterbalance the cooling arrangement in tubes intended to be supported in the centre.
