Abstract
353,332. Electroplating. LANGBEINPFANHAUSER-WERKE AKT.-GES., 76, Torgauerstrasse, Leipsic, Germany. Oct. 10, 1930, No. 30380. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1929. [Class 41.] Needle-like articles 3 of iron, steel, nickel or other magnetizable metal are supported in a chromium or other plating bath by one limb 1 of a magnet having an opposite limb 2 towards which the articles are pointed. The magnet serves as connection for the plating current. An electric magnet excited by a coil 5 is preferably employed. By holding the support horizontally and interrupting the exciting current the articles 3 may be dropped on to and held by the limb 2, to allow plating of the ends previously in contact with the limb 1. The exciting current may be reversed in this operation. In a modification, the limbs are more widely separated to allow articles to be supported on both limbs with an interval between the two sets.
