Abstract

353,086. Tunnel kilns. WOODALLDUCKHAM (1920), Ltd. and DUCKHAM, A. M., 136, Victoria Street, London. April 24, 1930, No. 12682. [Class 51 (ii).] In a tunnel kiln of the muffle type the firing of the goods is assisted by passing into the tunnel air which has been heated in flues G alternating with combustion flues I<1> in the walls of the kiln. Air which enters the unloading end of the kiln is withdrawn through ports in the walls of the tunnel by a suction device, and passed through the duct A, side wall flues B, and distributing flues D<1>, to the vertical heating-flues G. The air enters the tunnel by the ports G<1> and is exhausted through distributed damper-controlled ports L in the preheating zone.
