Abstract

352,238. Nutcrackers. CONKLIN, E. R., 27, Trevor Square, Knightsbridge, London. June 28, 1930, No. 19753. [Class 128.] A nutcracker having a stationary jaw 10 and a movable jaw 12 has operating levers 21 which are pivoted directly to the movable jaw and have an intermediate link connection 18 to the fixed jaw. For holding the nut the jaw 10 has flanges 11 and the jaw 12 has a depression 13. The links 18 are pivoted at 17 to a standard 15 which carries pins 25 engaging slots 26 in the plate 22 of the movable jaw 12. Springs 27 keep the jaws in the open position. To adjust the separation of the jaws a ratchet 28 on the standard 15 is engaged by a pawl 29 upon the stationary jaw plate 30, the extent of this adjustment being limited by the engagement of slots 31 with the pins 25. A pivoted catch may be provided to hold the handles together when not in use.
