Abstract

351,984. Plate heat exchangers. KINGS PATENT AGENCY, Ltd., 146A, Queen Victoria Street, London.-(Aktiebolaget Calvert & Co. ; Gothenburg, Sweden.) March 25, 1930, No. 9506. [Class 64 (iii).] In an air preheater or the like of the kind in which the air and hot gases or other media flow respectively through alternate passages between corrugated plates having corrugations arranged transversely of the flow of the media, the distance between adjacent plates in millimetres is less than five times the average speed of the media in metres per second, the height of the waves of the corrugations is about two-thirds the distance between the plates, and the length of the waves is four to seven times the height of the waves. In a preheater, the air passages 7 between the plates 1 are spaced apart, at the inlet and outlet 11, 12 by spacing pieces 17 which are pressed together by bolts 16. Longitudinal strips 15 guide the air through the passages 7.
