Abstract
351,411. Hook fastenings. HASKELL, F. F., 41, Newland Road, Arlington, Middlesex, Massachusetts, U.S.A. March 11, 1930, No. 7921. [Class 44.] A casement window 2 is fastened by a hook 35 which engages a part 38, Fig. 3, on the window. The hook is frictionally mounted on an eccentric boss 41, shown dotted in Fig. 3, on an operating handle 39, which pivots on a pin carried by a bracket 36 on the window frame 1. When the handle is raised, the hook is moved away from the part 38 and is rotated downwards by friction with the boss 41. When the handle is brought down, the hook is rotated upwards by friction to engage the part 38 and is then drawn outwards to tighten the fastening. The slot 37 in the frame, through which the hook passes, is closed by a metalbacked felt member carried bv the hook. Automatic catches.-A screen 31 on the inside of the window, Fig. 2, is held at one side by its corners entering sockets on the frame and at the other by a blade spring catch 48 mounted on the bracket 36. The catch is released by the cam surface 54 of a handle 53 pivoted on the screen frame.
