351,258. Weighing- apparatus. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T. and WATKINS, V. W.. Soho Foundry, Birmingham. June 28, 1930, No. 19705. [Class 143.] Temperature variations, compensating for.-In a thermostatic device for use with the indicating mechanisms of weighing apparatus wherein a weighing lever 6 is connected to a rack lever 10 through a link 7, the point of connection 8 of the link relative to the fulcrum 10a of the rack lever is varied automatically with change of temperature to compensate for expansion or contraction of the rack lever. The compensation is effected by connecting the link to the rack lever by means of an ebonite block 13 secured at one end 14 to the rack lever and secured at the other end 9b to a steel bar 9 engaged by the link. The rack lever actuates the indicator by a rack and pinion 11, 12. Warping of the ebonite block 13 is prevented without interfering with its longitudinal movements, by a steel plate 15 secured to the rack lever 10 by bolts 16 and spring washers 17. When the weighing resistant is in the form of a spring 1, its supporting pillars 4 are formed of zinc to correct for the effect of changes of temperature upon the spring.
