Abstract

4709. Avery, W. & T., and Goulding, W. G. Feb. 24. Balances, stays for; bearings.-Relates to a counter or platform weighing-scale of the type employing a French stay and comprises the addition to the ordinary arrangement of stay of two knife-edged plates for preventing the stay from riding up the leg in conjunction with which it operates. As shown in Fig. 2 the scale leg B carries the usual knife-edged plate C, through a slot in which the end of the stay A projects. Between the plate C and leg B is secured a plate D, Figs. 2 and 6, provided with knife-edges 6 which are adapted to bear upon an horizontal plate F, Figs. 2 and 5, attached to the stay A. The knife-edges 6 are arranged in the same line as the knife-edges 9, 10 and 11 respectively of the stay A and plate C. The plate F may be provided with knife-edges coincident with the knife-edges 9.
