Abstract

350,932. Pneumatic separators. BARTHELMESS, E., 101, Rheinallee, Oberkassel, Dusseldorf, Germany. March 7, 1930, No. 7569. Convention date, March 7, 1929. [Classes 23 and 117.] In pneumatic separators of the type in which the material carried in an air stream passes up the annular space between two conical casings a, m, and enters the inner casing by tangential openings b depositing the coarser elements in the inner chamber and carrying the finer elements through the exhaust pipe d, a baffle plate g is pivotally suspended at the bottom of the inner chamber to deflect the air entering at e for the purpose of providing a preliminary coarse separation, and is provided with guiding channels h, i by which the material deposited in the inner chamber is discharged. The channels i are formed in downwardly projecting tongues on the baffle and are opposite similarly formed tongues on the casing m so that the air deflected by the baffle passes through the intervening spaces and the material discharging from the chamber m is shielded therefrom. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a construction in which the openings into the exhaust pipe d are disposed in opposite tangential directions at their upper and lower parts. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
