Abstract

323,719. Waring, H., and Associated Lead Manufacturers, Ltd. Sept. 4, 1928. Density separators.- Dust &c. is separated from gases by a downwardly directed conical separating chamber 1 having a tangential inlet 9 at the top and a bottom discharge outlet 12 and containing a perforated cone 11 also having a discharge outlet. Coarse dust &c. is separated in the outer space 10. The partly c le a n e d gas flows through the perforations and through apertures in a cover plate 5 to filter bags 6 suspended by a counterweight. The holes in the plate 5 are obturated in turn by a plate 14 rotated slowly through a worm wheel; dust &c. falls from the interior of the bag thus isolated and descends afterwards into the inner cone 11. The perforations in the cone may be circular flanged holes or slots. Several coaxial perforated partitions may be used with the perforations of adjacent partitions staggered.
