[Class 52 (iii).] In an expanding table of the kind wherein means are provided to raise and lower a central leaf to enable end leaves to be inserted or withdrawn (for example, the table described in Specification 210,469, [Class 52 (iii), Tables &c.]), the end leaves are connected by hinges 18 to sliders 19, the undersides of which are horizontal and move on rollers 21 and a transverse bearer 22. Between each pair of sliders is a rod 23 ; these are fixed at their outer ends to the end leaves, and bear " cam " surfaces 25. When an end leaf is drawn out, the rod 23 tilts in the slot 24, and the upwardly-sloping part 26 of the cam 25 rides over a roller 28 on an abutment 27. This tilting raises the end leaf on its hinges 18 until it is clear of the central leaf ; at the same time, wedges 29 on the sliders 19 engage with wedges 30 attached to the underside of the centre leaf and raise it to the level of the fixed panel 13. When the end leaf is fully out, the inner end of the rod 23 falls upon the bearer 22, thus enabling the leaf to fall to the level of the upraised central leaf.
